About Emma

weddingcelebrantlondonwestmisterlocalAfter twelve fantastic years working as longhaul cabin crew for British Airways I decided a change of career was necessary (time to get more sleep!) and I found myself working as a registrar for a high profile London register office. I quickly came to realise that I love performing ceremonies and playing an important part in somebody’s special day.

I know that the registrar can get a bad rap and, although I think they do a great job under often challenging conditions, there is definitely frustration with the legal restrictions within which they have to work.

So I decided the time was right to move away from those restrictions by becoming independent, while still drawing on the experience I have gained.  I have taken the positive elements of the day job, such as understanding the mechanics and choreography of a ceremony, the delivery and command of an audience, and managing the event from start to finish, and combined them with the unique, personalised ceremony constructed with you in mind.

Over the years I have participated in ceremonies in venues as varied as boats and zoos to gardens and converted churches. I have been part of Indian, African and Persian ceremonies and incorporated Jewish traditions into secular weddings. I have worked with translators and plenty of children and animals!

Being a former registrar means I can also assist in your preparations for a legal wedding ceremony as well and ensure you receive the correct information and advice first-hand.

I have trained with Terri Shanks, a respected and very experienced celebrant, and founder of The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, of which I am now a member. As a member of the Fellowship I also agree to adhere to the Standards of Service & Code of Ethics, giving you complete peace of mind that you are in safe hands.

My background in the travel industry also comes in usual as a celebrant. I have lived in Russia and Spain and travelled extensively, this has given me a good appreciation of different languages and cultures and although I may not be fluent in other languages I am more than happy to turn my hand to an introduction in your language of choice.

I live in West London and am available to work throughout the UK and overseas.

Be it a wedding, a baby-naming ceremony, renewal of vows, or any event you’d like to celebrate, I look forward to meeting you and helping create your perfect ceremony.
